Gunjan Saxena: Reality of Women in Armies by Dhruv Rathee

In this video, I show you the real story behind Air Force Pilot Gunjan Saxena, her heroics and the role she played in bringing gender equality in the Indian armed forces. I talk about her childhood and the brave missions she carried out during the battle. 

 

I also look at the role played by women in the Indian Armed Forces and try to answer the following questions: 

Why have women been continuously marginalised in the Indian Armed Forces? Why were women officers not eligible for a permanent job or pension until recently? What was the government’s position on this matter?  And, what is the role of women in the armed forces across the world?
